2012 SAIN (China) Annual Meeting was held successfully

The SAIN Chinese side annual meeting was held in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from 12th to 13th October. Director Wang Jinbiao, Sun Guifeng, from Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture (MOA), Director Sun Yonghua from Center of International Cooperation Service, MOA, Director Liu Dianzheng from Administration Center of Agricultural Foreign-funded Projects addressed the meeting.

At the meeting, Chinese SAIN secretary made a summary of the work of secretariat in recent years and each working group gave a report of the progress of its projects respectively. The participants discussed the focus of 2013 work plan and the content of Governing Board meeting as well as of the plan for the implementation of research results.

It was an important meeting that provided a platform for SAIN members to review achievements have been made in recent years, further promote cooperation between UK and China in the field of agriculture, and layed a solid foundation for the upcoming SAIN Governing Board meeting, which will be held in Beijing. We will steadily push forward the cooperation in sustainable agriculture development by making full use of the Sustainable Agriculture Innovation Network, promote food security cooperation to make greater contribution to sustainable agriculture development of China and UK.
Specific work plan as follow:
1. Summarize achievements and important progress since SAIN setup, produce a proceeding;
2. Each Working Group prepare one or two new project proposal to be selected for the coming years;
3. Put forward a mechanism of SAIN long term development for the coming Governing Board meeting.
4. Propaganda: Publishing achievements and progress in newspaper and TV program.
